SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A unique auction of gift cards to support local businesses suffering from closures will be held Saturday, April 18, by Vogt Auction Texas, starting at 1 p.m. Central time. Bid absentee or live online through LiveAuctioneers.
The San Antonio Strong Community Online Auction features more than 50 home-grown and beloved San Antonio restaurants and shops, all of which have been ordered to close in this challenging period. One-hundred percent of the proceeds of the auction will go straight to the businesses – both Vogt and LiveAuctioneers have waived all fees for the event.
“We’re a San Antonio business too, and this is our home,” said company director Rob Vogt. “Like so many others, we wanted to help the folks that make our city so special, and well, we do auctions. So we thought, let’s have an auction.”
Participating businesses include hometown institutions like 50-year-old favorite Paesano’s Italian Restaurant, Tex-Mex food landmark La Fonda on Main, and the award-winning Bakery Lorraine, located on the historic San Antonio Riverwalk.
Bidders can leave preauction bids now, or bid live online on auction day. Winning bidders will receive their gift card by mail.
“We’re all in this together,” said Vogt. “So let’s bid, even above face value, to make sure the folks that make our city special know we love them, and to help them make it through to the other side.”
