SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Vogt Galleries’ Western & Texas Arts Auction on Saturday, Aug. 22, will feature 291 lots including original artwork, saddles and spurs, turquoise jewelry, early firearms, maps, documents, and Western memorabilia. The auction will start at noon Central time. Bid absentee or live online through LiveAuctioneers.

Featured items include artwork by G. Harvey including Light From the Windows (above), 1970, an oil on canvas that has an $18,000-$25,000 estimate. Several G. Harvey pieces included in the auction are from the artist’s estate.

Highlights include artwork by Texas landscape master William Zaner, Rosillos Mountains, Far West Texas (below), 1972-1973, oil on canvas (est: $1,000-$1,500).

A Maria & Popovi black pottery feathered jar has a $900-$1,200 estimate.

A bronze after Alexander Phimister Proctor’s Buffalo, modeled in 1912, and cast in 1973 by his daughter, is marked “ed. 1/36” (est. $2,000-$3,000).

The auction will have several pieces of turquoise jewelry including a squash blossom necklace with sterling silver and turquoise (est. $300-$500).

Firearms such as the black powder .44 caliber Walker Colt revolver (est. $800-$1,000) will cross the auction block.

Additionally, the auction will feature original artworks by Gary Lynn Roberts, Robert Wood, Melvin Warren, Jose Vives-Atsara, Lajos Markos, Carl Hoppe, John Horejs, Joe Ruiz Grandee, Al Barnes, Gutzon and Elizabeth Borglum, Tom Lea, Peter Hurd, Manley K. Nash, Jerry Ruthven, Robert Hamman, and others.

Western items include pieces from the estates of Buck Jones and Tom Mix, cinema stars from the golden age of westerns.
