NEW YORK – Pop art’s biggest names are found in a Jasper52 prints auction that will be held online on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Nearly 100 limited edition prints and lithographs from the pop art greats including Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein are offered. Bid absentee or live online exclusively through LiveAuctioneers.
Thirty-nine Warhol prints are available starting with Lot 1, a self-portrait from 1978. One of the most striking is a silkscreen portrait of John Lennon (above) from 1986, which is in very good condition. The 36-inch-square print is from a New York collection.
Another Warhol silkscreen print is Chanel No 5 from his Ads Portfolio in 1985. The image and paper size are 38 inches square. The print is described to be in very good/excellent condition.
Two dozen Lichtenstein prints await bids including As I Opened Fire. The offset lithograph measures 25 3/16 by 20¾ inches.
Robert Rauschenberg is represented by three prints including his CORE (Congress of Racial Equality) poster that reflects the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. The 36-by-24-inch print is signed and numbered.
Three prints from John Wesley’s 1971 “Portfolio Ponoply” are offered as separate lots. One is a disarming silkscreen print titled Priscilla the Hun, which measures 30 inches square.
Additional artists listed in the auction catalog are Keith Haring, Tom Wesselmann, Jasper Johns and Robert Indiana.
The auction will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18, beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
