CHESTER, N.Y. –  On Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, William Jenack Auctioneers will offer an important ensemble of 19th and 20th-century drawings and paintings; Tiffany Favrile glass, 18th- to 20th-century furnishings, American, European and Russian silver/sterling; and Asian art in an auction that will begin at 11:00 a.m. EST. The Fine Art sale will include on-line bidding through LiveAuctioneers (www.liveauctioneers.com).

Highlights are led by a signed Wilfredo Lam oil on canvas titled Abstract Figures, also signed on verso Wilfredo Lam France ’63 ($30,000/$50,000). An estimate of $15,000/20,000 accompanies an Auguste Hyacinth Debay 19th-century marble sculpture Le Berceau Primifif: Eve et Ses Deux Enfants.

An important Isamu Noguchi brush ink on paper (sheet size 48 inches by 36 inches) from a Tallahassee, Fla., collection is signed and dated 1930 ($10,000/$15,000).

A signed George Herbert McCord, oil on canvas, possibly his largest work (20 inches x 40 inches) titled Ruins of Castle Laugharne at Twilight, is dated 1875 and estimated at $8,000/$12,000.

A striking oil on canvas from the estate of Alejandro Mario Yllanse, Self Portrait Exposkion Yllanes (76 inches by 55 inches) is scheduled to go to auction accompanied by Diego Rivera’s handwritten exhibition introduction at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, Mexico City,1946 ($4,000/$6,000).

Eighteenth- to 20th-century furnishings include a French grained and painted provincial armoire, dated 1728 ($1,000/$1,500), 18th/19th-century Continental Renaissance-style carved walnut blanket chest, ($1,000/1,500); 18th-century French carved oak armoire ($1,500/2,500); 19th/20th-century Renaissance-style carved-oak game cabinet ($800/1,200); 17th-century Continental carved-oak linen-fold paneled coffer ($600/900) and a pair of 18th/19th-century Continental carved walnut settles ($500-800).

An important collection of art glass (18 lots) from a Tuxedo Park, N.Y.,  estate features Tiffany Favrile, Steuben, Quezel and Loetz examples.

Eighty lots of American, European and Russian silver and sterling includes a Russian silver/enamel decorated cup/plate set bearing the marks for Feodor Ruckert, cased ($18,000/$25,000); Russian silver/enamel-decorated salt throne, bearing the marks of Feodor Ruckert ($8,000/$12,000); an A. Kovalskiy/Russian .84 silver ewer, 1856 ($2,000/$3,000); a set (6) Durgin Division of Gorham Company sterling tea/coffee set #57 including hot water kettle, coffee pot, tea pot, creamer, covered sugar and waste (monogrammed “E”), circa 1905 153.22 troy oz. ($4,000/$6,000); and a London sterling double-handled cup, 1728-9, Humphrey Payne ($800-$1,200).

The sale includes antique and decorative accessories such as a vintage Handel leaded glass “Cherry” hanging shade, signed, diameter 24 inches ($5,000/$7,000); a Regency carved mahogany column tall case clock, circa 1800 ($2,000/$3,000); a fine 19th-century French onyx, bronze and champleve mounted pedestal ($1,000/$1,500); a 19th-century life-size Regency carved monkey on a rocky outcrop, 67 inches, ($800/$1,200) and a pair of wrought-iron estate gates, 8 feet by 8 feet ($1,000/$2,000). The sale also includes many fine examples of Asian art and a selection of antique Oriental rugs and carpets.
