OXFORD, Mich. – On Sept. 14-15, Midwest Auction Galleries will be offering a large collection of antiques and Asian antiques from the collection of the late Robert Willis, owner and proprietor of R.F. Willis Galleries, Grand Rapids, Mich. Willis was well-known and well-respected dealer. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide Internet live bidding.
Highlights offered from his collection include a finely carved antique ivory crucifix, an Art Deco diamond and platinum bar brooch, Herman Miller furniture, a fine Chinese rosewood desk, a Chinese Qing blue and gilt decorated porcelain jar, as well as modern bronze sculptures and many higher-end antiques in all media.
Also included in the sale is a large collection of artwork by such distinguished artist as Albert Bierstadt, Childe Hassam, Jean Babtist Camille Corot and Louis Comfort Tiffany, just to name a few.
The sale consisting of over 1,000 lots will begin Saturday Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. Eastern.
“The collection of Mr. Willis is one of the best I have seen in a few years,” said Brian Fichtner, head of the Asian arts department at Midwest Auctions. “He had such a large variety of antiques in all fields, it is very evident that he was a man with exceptional taste. We are excited to have the opportunity to auction this collection.”
