Daum Nancy Cameo Art Glass Vase, estimated at $8,000-$12,000 at Woody.

Daum Nancy winter-themed cameo art glass collection comes to Woody August 24

DOUGLASS, KS — An important private collection of art glass from Illinois is now in Kansas and awaiting the Saturday, August 24 Art Glass, Furniture and More sale at Woody Auction. It features 49 lots of stunning winter-themed Daum Nancy cameo art glass, many in highly unusual shapes, along with some fine Amberina pieces from New England Glass. This highly anticipated sale is already generating early bidding at LiveAuctioneers.

The sale’s top-estimated lots, at $8,000-$12,000, are both Daum Nancy vases. A Souffle French Cameo vase stands 16in in height and is a blown mold design. Its wintry forest landscape is described as ‘exceptional.’ A vase with a winter season design stands an impressive 21in, as well.

A highly coveted Daum Nancy Four Seasons salt cellar set is another star lot. Accompanied by their original French jeweler’s box (6in square), the cellars feature a spring rain scene along with summer, fall, and winter artwork. Each cellar is 1.25 by 1.75in and should perform extremely well in the sale. The set is estimated at $5,000-$7,500.

Unusual Daum Nancy shapes and designs are a hallmark of the Illinois collection. The sale includes a canoe-form vase (estimated at $2,000-$3,000), a miniature pitcher (estimated at $250-$650), a creamer (estimated at $1,000-$1,750) and a perfume bottle (estimated at $1,500-$2,500).

The New England Glass Company of East Cambridge, Massachusetts was founded in 1818 and operated until 1888. This glass and tableware manufacturer’s works are coveted by today’s collectors. On offer are two fine Amberina pieces, led by a pitcher described by Woody as ‘one of the best available.’ It measures 7 by 6in and carries an estimate of $5,000-$8,000. Looking like a perfect match for the pitcher is a set of four plated Amberina tumblers measuring 3.75 by 2.5in. They are estimated at $3,000-$6,000.
