DOUGLASS, Kan. – Woody Auction LLC will hold a Fantastic Art Glass Auction with more than 450 lots on Saturday, April 23, starting at 9:30 am Central time. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
Several items could conceivably become the top lot of the auction. Contenders include a flawless plated amberina water pitcher by New England glass, boasting excellent color and in excellent condition, with 12 well-defined ribs, estimated at $6,000-$10,000; an agate glass vase signed “L. C. Tiffany-Favrile #V586,” made from extremely rare agate and with a faint honeycomb design, estimated at $4,000-$8,000; and a Stevens & Williams Silveria art glass vase marked by the maker, with incredible bright iridescent colors. It retains its original applied handles and green threaded overlay and is in in great condition. Its estimate is $4,000-$6,000.
Colorful and outstanding quality vases abound in the April 23 sale lineup. Examples include a signed Stevens & Williams English cameo three-color vase having a yellow ground with pink and white cameo carved floral branch decor. It is estimated at $1,000-$1,600.
Also of note is an unmarked English cameo art glass vase with a blue ground and a white cameo carved overlay of poppy and butterfly decor from the Sue Frick collection, estimated at $1,000-$1,500; and an art glass vase marked Crown Milano in a swirl mode with a Guba duck scenic decor, issuing from the Doyle and Mary Jane Fair collection and estimated at $1,250-$2,000.
An agata art glass bowl with pink to lavender coloring, outstanding mottling, and a ruffled rim is offered with a Reed & Barton #968 silver plate frame, which works well to display the bowl. The whole carries an estimate of $1,500-$3,000.
