Kamelot’s long-awaited Garden Antiques sale May 19

PHILADELPHIA – On Saturday, May 19, Kamelot Auctions will host their 13th annual Garden and Architectural Antiques sale. Here buyers can purchase one-of-a-kind garden and architectural pieces ranging from traditional to modern. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

This year’s sale will feature more than 700 lots of garden furniture, urns, fountains, architectural elements, finely carved marble and modern sculptures. Famous names featured in this sale are Colebrookdale, Willy Guhl, J.L. Mott, Galloway and Salterini. The Kamelot auction catalog shows these and similar items selling for a couple hundred dollars up to several thousand dollars.

Selected highlights include an S. Keliam Bronze Figure (Lot 370), and a pair of oak and bronze benches from the Banque de France circa 1920 (Lot 204) (est. $2,000-$3,000). For those seeking a unique addition to their outdoor space, there is a pair of rare and unusual domed iron chairs composed of horseshoes (Lot 403) as well as a plethora of unique stone, marble and iron figures such as lions, owls, manatees, cranes, deer, sphinxes and various aquatic creatures.

A wide and exciting variety of planters and urns will also be offered in the sale. One of the most notable being Lot 229, a pair of cast-iron Medusa urns having snake handles (est. $800-$1,200.) Other exciting pieces include Lot 134: a French Art Deco marble urn resting on stepped pedestal base, circa 1920, (est. $800-$1,200). Also offered will be a pair of Art Deco cast-iron vases circa 1930 (Lot 375) (est. $600-$900) and many pairs of mid-century modern Willy Guhl cast-stone garden planters circa 1970.

Lot 326 is a fine and rare late 19th century ornate bronze sarcophagus having a mansard removable glass paneled top over glass sides estimated to bring upwards of $4,000-$6,000 dollars. In addition, Kamelot will be offering a monumental pair of recumbent bronze lions with open mouths and full manes. (Lot 206) (est. $2,000-$3,000).

A few iron standouts include a pair of monumental black iron gates with matching arch-form transom, circa 1920, which is estimated to bring $2,000-$3,000 and Lot 292, a four-piece cast-iron Victorian fountain signed J.W. Fiske, circa 1870, (est. $2,000-$3,000.)
