Born and raised on the island, Stark would return from his Korean War navy service to begin his art career and open the now-legendary Stark Gallery at Nantucket’s Old North Wharf. His artistic style is described by many as luminist — a form of realism in which brush strokes are hidden and the look of the landscape’s atmosphere and lighting is paramount. The sale includes Red-Sailed Catboat Rounding Brant Point, Nantucket, a classic Stark oil on masonite that is estimated at $15,000-$20,000.

Certain to make a life-changing Christmas gift is a platinum emerald-cut diamond ring with a stone weighing 4.1 carats. It comes with a GIA report and has an estimate of $80,000-$100,000, making it the sale’s most anticipated lot.
