SCOTTS VALLEY, CA — Originally commissioned by Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak based on his own design, one of just 30 original ‘Apple logo’ glasses dating to 1979 will sell at Clark’s Auction Company Saturday, September 14 as a featured lot in its California Estates Auction sale.
‘Woz’ wore a pair for the cover image of Steve Carr’s book Woz: The Prodigal Son of Silicon Valley, which was published the same year. The frame is marked Metzler TWE Frame Germany 7801 145.
The glasses were consigned to Clark by friends of Wozniak, who gave the pair to them in 1986. Considering the present high demand for Apple Computer-era items, Clark’s $12,000-$15,000 estimate may prove to be too conservative.
