LOS ANGELES – Designer light fittings made for the North Beverly Park home of Sylvester Stallone – but seemingly not to the taste of new owner Adele – will be auctioned in California this month. The Saturday, August 19, 2023, sale at Cain Modern Auctions in Los Angeles includes a dozen custom-made wall sconces and chandeliers that are surplus to requirements as the property receives a full makeover. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Gossip columns and real estate magazines have been delighted in the inter-celebrity sale of a $58 million 3.5-acre, eight-bedroom estate. One “important” detail reported ad infinitum was that Adele insisted on retaining a bronze statue of Rocky in the classic “Philadelphia Art Museum steps” pose that the actor cherished and placed near his pool.

In conversation with The Wall Street Journal, Stallone revealed that Adele’s insistence on keeping this little piece of cinematic history in her backyard was a key factor in the final deal, made in early 2022. “She wanted the statue,” he divulged, adding, “I like what she’s doing, she’s making it gorgeous.”

Adele has commissioned a full renovation of the property that involves the removal of its second story.

Four large Gothic revival wrought iron and seeded glass wall sconces, each more than four feet in height, are offered as single lots with estimates of $3,000-$5,000 each.

Bought from the boutique lighting firm Paul Ferrante around the time Stallone first purchased the property in the 1990s, these sconces were positioned at either side of the Italianate front entrance and are visible in real estate agency photos. According to tags attached to the sconces, they were removed from the house on July 18, 2022.

Also estimated at $3,000-$5,000 is a bronze chandelier visible in agency photos of one of Stallone’s art-encrusted living rooms. The five-and-a-half-foot high armillary sphere was designed by Christine Rouviere and made by the Cinabre Gallery in Paris, France.

A large Feather pattern chandelier designed and manufactured in Los Angeles by Paul Ferrante is estimated at $4,500-$5,500.
