Chrysler Museum of Art exhibits exceptional collection of prints

NORFOLK, Va. – The Chrysler Museum of Art has welcomed an extraordinary collection of modern prints on loan. Lasting Impressions: Prints from the Collection of David R. and Susan S. Goode will be on view until November 6. This exhibition was announced earlier this year following the Goodes’ $2.5 million donation to the museum to establish the Goode Works on Paper Center and a group of 100 photographs by O. Winston Link, which will be added to the Chrysler collection during the next three years.

NEW YORK — “We are beyond thrilled with the results of the October 7 auction, which was a historic sale for Swann Galleries: our first auction to hammer over $4 million. Great excitement about our sale offerings resulted in auction record prices for eleven artists, including Belkis Ayon, Elizabeth Catlett and Howardena Pindell, and significant prices for many others, including Edward Bannister, Richmond Barthé and Hale Woodruff,” noted Nigel Freeman, director of African American Art at Swann Galleries. The sale totaled more than $5 million, including buyer’s premium.

HOUSTON — In October, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, will debut the US tour of Afro-Atlantic Histories, an unprecedented exhibition that visually explores the history and legacy of the transatlantic slave trade. Initially organized and presented in 2018 by the Museu de Arte de Sao Paulo (MASP), the exhibition comprises more than 130 artworks and documents made in Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean, and Europe from the 17th to the 21st centuries. In collaboration with MASP and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, the MFAH will present Afro-Atlantic Histories at its Caroline Wiess Law Building from Sunday, October 24 through Monday, January 17, 2022. The exhibition will then travel to the National Gallery of Art to be on view in its West Building from Sunday, April 10, 2022 through Sunday, July 17, 2022, with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and additional venues confirmed to follow.
