American Pickers announce contest – winner gets ‘picked’

NEW YORK – Those irrepressible junk hounds Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz are launching a competition whose grand prize is a chance to get “picked,” followed by an appearance on an episode of their smash-hit History channel TV show.

Here are details of the “Pick Me” contest, straight from the Pickers themselves:

DESCRIPTION:

Tell us the story behind your collection and why you should be picked to win a visit from Mike and Frank, and a chance to appear on an episode of American Pickers. What do you have that you’ve never seen on the show? What are three items you have that people get excited about? And where do you keep it all?

HOW TO ENTER:

Just send us a video showing us your collection and describing how you acquired it and what makes it unique. Collections must be private – no museums or shops permitted. Entries will be judged on their historical value and quality; the site or location where it is housed, and the story that documents how the collection was formed.

The “Pick Me” contest runs through June 17, 2011.

THE PRIZES:

The grand prize winner will have an opportunity to get picked by American Pickers Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz in a future episode, and will receive a “Pick Me” prize pack consisting of:

A season 1 DVD set

An “I’m a Picker” T-shirt

An “I’m a Picker” duffle bag

An American Pickers logo mug

Two first prize winners will each receive a “Pick Me” prize pack.
