INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indianapolis’ arts groups are hoping to jump onto the Super Bowl bandwagon by adding arts events to the city’s slate of attractions tied to February’s big game.

Arts Council of Indianapolis President Dave Lawrence says a subcommittee on arts and culture is trying to integrate the arts into Super Bowl events to a degree not seen in other host cities.

The Indianapolis Business Journal reports an exhibition space for local artists is being readied and a citywide mural project is in the works.

An exhibit including historical and cultural artifacts owned by Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is also in the works.

Sports-event consultant Jim Steeg says the typical Super Bowl attendee will have 2-1/2 days to kill before the big game and they’ll check out arts events if they’re promoted well.
