PEORIA, Ill. (AP) – The son of Ansel Adams will speak at the opening this month of an exhibit of the photographer’s work at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.

The photographs and rarely seen personal items will be on display from April 14 through Sept. 22. The Peoria museum will be the only one in the Midwest to host the show, entitled “Ansel Adams: Western Exposure.”

The photographer’s son, Michael Adams, will speak at the April 14 opening about what it was like accompanying his father on his photographic expeditions, including a six-week journey across the Southwest in 1941 that produced some of his most iconic images.

In an interview published Saturday in the (Peoria) Journal Star, Adams said he had an unusual upbringing full of what he called “satisfying and wonderful” experiences.
