ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – Sculptor Paul Manship and one of his creations are subjects of the spring public art lecture series presented by Public Art Saint Paul.

A lecture April 14 focuses on Manship’s place in his hometown of St. Paul and the history of American art.

On April 21, the subject will be the restoration of Manship’s 1926 bronze sculpture “The Indian Hunter and His Dog.” In 1996, Public Art Saint Paul undertook a complete restoration of the sculpture and brought it back to its original home in Cochran Park.

Manship’s other works include the “Prometheus” sculpture in New York’s Rockefeller Center and the gates of the Bronx Zoo.

Both lectures will be held at the College of Visual Arts Gallery in St. Paul and are free and open to the public.
