FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) – The U.S. Postal Service has unveiled a stamp featuring an iconic Thomas Moran painting of the Grand Canyon.

It’s one of 16 being released in celebration of this year’s National Park Service centennial.

The stamps will be available for use starting June 2 when they’re shown at a ceremony at the World Stamp Show in New York. Dedication ceremonies also are planned at or near each of the parks showcased on the stamps.

The Grand Canyon painting was done by American artist Thomas Moran in 1912 and has a view off Hermit Road on the South Rim of the canyon.

Postal Service spokesman Mark Saunders says the agency has created six stamps of the Grand Canyon in all and one stamped postcard.
