CINCINNATI – The Auctions at Rookwood LLC, known internationally for its high-profile sales of art pottery and art glass, is flying a new banner. The company is now known as Humler & Nolan.

Humler & Nolan’s auction director Riley Humler explained in a printed message sent to his company’s customers that the name change has been effected to alleviate confusion that has been experienced over the past 16 months. In his message, Humler wrote: “After nearly two decades as a part of the Cincinnati Art Galleries family, the auction became an independent entity. Upon relocating to the home of the newly reborn Rookwood Pottery Company, we assumed the name ‘The Auctions at Rookwood, LLC.’ Unfortunately, both the relocation and the new name became a source of confusion and even frustration for some of our clients.”

To address the issue, Humler took the appropriate steps to rebrand the company. In a nod to tradition, the new designation combines Humler’s surname and the name of his grandfather’s business partner, Nolan, after whom Humler was named – he was born Nolan Riley Humler.

Humler & Nolan no longer operates from the Rookwood Pottery premises. Prior to their Holiday Sale 2010, the company relocated to Tower Place Mall, adjacent to Carew Tower and Netherland Plaza Hotel in downtown Cincinnati. The company’s staff remains the same, consisting of Jim Fleming, Karen Singleton and Mark Mussio, with Humler at the helm.

Humler & Nolan is currently seeking consignments for its Keramics 2011, Art Glass 2011 and Rookwood XXI sales. Staff members will be visiting Florida, New York, Chicago and the DC area to meet with potential consignors.
