AGOURA HILLS, Calif. – Elvis Presley’s Lockheed JetStar is topping the charts in an A-List Celebrity and Icons Memorabilia auction May 27 orchestrated by GWS Auctions Inc.

Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

The red Lockheed JetStar will be sold to the highest bidder, without reserve. It has been parked on the tarmac in Roswell, New Mexico, for more that 30 years. Elvis owned the plane with his father, Vernon Presley. It is currently owned by a private collector.

“This is a remarkable find and is being sold by a private collector. It has attracted a lot of tourists in Roswell and still has the original woodwork, inlay, red velvet seats and red shag carpet. It has the potential to be fully restored and made the centerpiece of a major exhibit. This is the only jet owned by Elvis that is still owned privately,” said Brigitte Kruse, owner of GWS Auctions.

She considers the plane “a true investment piece,” which could be worth more than $2 million.

The 315-lot auction includes some of the most amazing celebrity memorabilia ever offered to the public. Rare items include lost photos of the late recording artist Aaliyah, never before seen photos of the Beach Boys and letters written by Brian Wilson. A-list celebrities also represented in the sale include Madonna, James Brown, Ray Charles, Marilyn Monroe, Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Sophia Loren.

The sale will begin a 10 a.m. Pacific time.
