HUNT VALLEY, Md. – The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide no. 48 from Gemstone Publishing is now available in comic shops across North America and in specialty shops around the world.

The first and last word to serious comic book collectors, dealers and historians since it was first published in 1970, The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide is released each July by Gemstone Publishing. Compiled by founder Robert M. Overstreet and an extensive roster of Overstreet advisers, the guide offers insight into the complex and exciting comic book market.

In addition to the new pricing, market reports and additions to the Overstreet Hall of Fame, this edition also includes a look at Marvel’s critical 1968 expansion, the 50th anniversary of Planet of the Apes, and the 80th anniversary of Action Comics no. 1 (the first appearance of Superman) history by former DC President and Publisher Paul Levitz. All versions of the guide except the Hero Initiative exclusive edition are available directly from Gemstone Publishing.

The Flash: Rebirth and Green Lantern artist Ethan Van Sciver provided the main cover art for this edition, a team-up between DC’s Green Lantern and The Flash. The $29.95 softcover is available in comic shops, traditional bookstores and from online booksellers, while the $35 hardcover will be available exclusively from comic shops.

Batman Beyond: Rebirth and Wednesday Comics’ Kamandi artist Ryan Sook illustrated a cover celebrating the 50th anniversary of Planet of the Apes for one of the Guide’s other covers. The 35th anniversary of Howard Chaykin’s ground-breaking comic book series American Flagg! is celebrated on the cover of the Guide’s third Hall of Fame cover to date. This edition was only printed in a limited quantity. As with the Planet of the Apes cover, it is available in both hardcover and soft cover.

Thanos, the villain in Marvel Studios blockbuster feature film, Avengers: Infinity War, is featured on this year’s Hero Initiative limited-edition fundraiser hardcover. Painted by master cover illustrator Joe Jusko and limited to 500 hardcover copies, the Hero Initiative/Thanos edition is available exclusive from the 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to helping comic book creators in need. It can be purchased from them in person at Comic-Con International: San Diego and from the Hero Initiative webstore on the Graham Crackers Comics site.

The Big, Big Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #48 is an oversized version of the book that includes larger print but strips away all of the ads, article and other nonpricing information. It is produced in a limited edition and is available only in the comic book market. This year’s Big, Big features Buffy The Vampire Slayer as illustrated by regular Buffy artists Georges Jeanty and Karl Story. It carries a $47.50 cover price.
