COOPERSVILLE, Mich. (AP) – A tribute concert featuring the music of 1960s pop singer Del Shannon will help raise money for a museum in his western Michigan hometown.

The Coopersville Area Historical Society & Museum presents “The Del Shannon Show” on Thursday at Coopersville High School’s Centerstage Theatre. The show features musician James Popenhagen, who works to recreate Shannon’s live sound in his performances.

Tickets are $10 per adult and $8 a student. Some proceeds also go to the Del Shannon Scholarship Fund.

The show kicks off a series of events in Shannon’s memory, including a car cruise and show.

In 1996, officials unveiled a memorial to Shannon outside the museum. He died by suicide six years earlier at his home in Santa Clarita, California.

His hits included Runaway and Hats Off To Larry.
