SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A jersey worn by the late Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant in game three of the 2009 NBA Finals has sold for $337,334, a record price for any jersey worn by the legendary LA Lakers shooting guard. It was offered in a January 20, 2021 online auction hosted by Grey Flannel Auctions of Scottsdale, Arizona.
The jersey had been authenticated by Photo-Match.com and was accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the NBA.
Michael Russek, Grey Flannel Auctions’ Director of Operations remarked: “This is the most historically significant Kobe jersey to hit the market since his unfortunate passing. Because it was fresh to the hobby and photo-matched, we were hopeful it might set a new industry record. There was incredible interest from collectors in the run-up to the sale.”
In the same sports memorabilia auction, a jersey that Michael Jordan wore during the Chicago Bulls’ 1998 Championship season landed a winning bid of $230,401.
