Mattel taps Shepard Fairey for its UNO Artiste Series

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – The latest entry in the UNO Artiste Series, which combines the classic card game with imagery from famed artists, features the work of American contemporary street artist and activist Shepard Fairey.
The limited-edition deck showcases Fairey’s artistic vision of using the UNO card game as a canvas, and reflects his distinctive style and iconic motifs. It prominently includes the famed Andre the Giant OBEY image as well as his depiction of Marianne, the symbol of France, which he created after the November 2015 terrorist attacks on Paris. Images of Fairey’s wife, Amanda, appear in the deck as well. It also contains four two-sided cards that create two different pieces of art when they are placed next to each other.

The UNO Artiste Series: Shepard Fairey deck is made with sustainable materials, including a paper belly band, paper tray, wood free paper for the instruction sheet and the removal of cellophane wrap.
As part of this partnership, Mattel will be making a donation on behalf of Fairey to the Ocean Conservancy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the oceans through federal and state legislation, in support of the artist’s initiatives.

The UNO Artiste Series: Shepard Fairey deck will be available exclusively via Mattel Creations starting Friday, July 30, at noon Eastern Standard Time, priced at $20.00.

The Shepard Fairey deck is the fourth in the Uno Artiste Series, which launched in September 2019 with a Jean-Michel Basquiat-themed deck. Subsequent offerings have showcased the work of Keith Haring and Nina Chanel Abney.
