Bangor man charged with stealing Civil War photos from library

An example of a valuable Civil War photo (not involved in the alleged library theft), this 1861 image depicts both white and black soldiers in the same regiment.
Russell Graves was arrested Wednesday and charged with theft.
Police started investigating late last month when a man entered a city collectibles shop and tried to sell the photographs and World War II posters.
The suspicious shopkeeper refused the items and called the library, which checked its collection and discovered the theft.
A woman entered the same store the next day and again tried to sell the items. This time police were ready and traced the photos to the 27-year-old Graves.
All the stolen things were recovered.
Graves is being held in jail and it wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer.
