Police: Woman tried to sell stolen antique vase

TROY, Mich. (AP) – A 51-year-old Pleasant Ridge woman suspected of trying to peddle a rare vase stolen from a Detroit-area antiques shop is expected to face charges including receiving and concealing stolen property.

Authorities tell The Daily Tribune of Royal Oak that security video shows a woman removing the $2,500 vase from a shelf at Antiques Centre of Troy, concealing it and carrying it outside.

Police say the woman later tried to sell the French-inspired Verrerie glass vase made in about 1920 at nearby Berkley stores Twice Around Antiques and Odd Fellows Antiques.

Police say they arrested the woman during a sting operation at Odd Fellows Antiques. She told officials that she’d found the vase in her attic and offered to sell it for $500.
