LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) – Two of three men charged with spray painting marijuana-themed words and marijuana leaves on Native American pictographs near a western Idaho state park have pleaded guilty.

The Lewiston Tribune reports Jerad Bovencamp and Tyler J. Carlson pleaded guilty Monday to willful injury or depredation of property on the rock face at the Red Elk Rock Shelter near Hells Gate State Park.

U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge scheduled sentencing for Jan. 3.

A third man, Freddie M. Bernal, pleaded not guilty to the depredation charge and to providing a false statement to investigators.

The pictographs include red-pigmented rock art of animal figures and geometric shapes believed to be between 200 and 2,500 years old.

The damage done in February 2010 included spray-painting “Freddy B” and the initials “TC.’
