PHILADELPHIA —Freeman’s is proud to announce that Part I of the personal American flag collection of Jeffrey Kenneth Kohn, MD, will be offered on November 10 at its 2400 Market Street gallery. Part I will include 50 rare American national and military flags—many of which have been previously included in exhibitions around the country—as well as a group of rare flag holders.
Kohn, a retired Pennsylvania psychiatrist, is one of the nation’s leading authorities on American Flags. He began collecting and dealing antiques in his late teens to help pay for college and medical school.
Kohn’s focus shifted to American Flags in the early 1980s. Fascinated by the endless variation in handmade Flags and seeking the most unusual examples, Kohn established himself as one of the foremost Flag collectors, appraisers, dealers, and lecturers in the country.
Jeffrey Kohn is the coauthor of American Flags: Designs for a Young Nation (2003).
