BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota is seeking logo ideas for state’s 125th anniversary.

Lt. Gov. Drew Wrigley and members of the North Dakota 125th Anniversary Committee say the competition is open to all state residents.

Officials say the winning logo will be used on promotional materials and merchandise developed for the year-long celebration that begins next year. They say logo designs should feature images representative of North Dakota’s history and opportunities for the future.

North Dakota and South Dakota entered the Union on Nov. 2, 1889. President Benjamin Harrison signed the admission papers for the two states on that day. North Dakota became the 39th state, and South Dakota the 40th.
