PHILADELPHIA – On Sunday, March 5, from 4 pm to 8 pm Eastern time, the Material Culture auction house will join Cedar Diaspora, Norma’s Eastern Mediterranean Cuisine and a talented lineup of musicians and dancers to stage an event titled “Music and Mezze for Hope, A Benefit for Turkey and Syria.”

In early February, the countries of Turkey and Syria were stricken by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8. The devastating event left roughly 1.5 million people homeless and, as of March 1, the death toll had reached 51,000.

The March 5 event will raise money to aid the many Turkish and Syrian earthquake victims and their families. All of the proceeds generated by Music and Mezze for Hope will go toward this relief effort.

Material Culture will host the event at its 4700 Wissahickon Avenue headquarters and will incorporate a live auction of rugs and kilims into the agenda. Other attractions include live music by Barakka, Mustafa Temur, Vahe Sarkissian Band, the Mid-East Ensemble, and Meesha.

Norma’s Eastern Mediterranean Cuisine will provide a menu of delicious mezze, or Mediterranean appetizers. Alcoholic beverages come courtesy of three participants: beer from Forgotten Boardwalk, vodka from Deep Eddy, and wine from WTSO.com.
