NEW YORK – A highly ornamented ancient Egyptian coffin from the first century B.C. will be the spectacular centerpiece of the exhibition “Nedjemankh and His Gilded Coffin,” opening July 20 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The recently acquired work, which was inscribed for a high-ranking priest of the ram-headed god Heryshef of Herakleopolis, will be displayed with 70 other works, also from The Met collection.
The exhibition is made possible by The Daniel P. Davison Fund.
