DETROIT (AP) – The Detroit Historical Museum will close this week for six months, marking its first major renovations since the 1960s.

The museum will close on Thursday. It’ll reopen on Nov. 23 with new and expanded exhibits and technology upgrades.

Also on Thursday, a celebration will be held at Woodward Plaza outside of the Detroit Historical Museum. It’s to honor the museum renovations and the upcoming Electronic Music Festival at Hart Plaza.

The Movement and Renovation Kickoff party will be set to the sounds of artists Carl Craig and Keith Kemp. The Movement music festival is scheduled next weekend.
