Historic courthouse showcases odd Lincoln memorabilia

METAMORA, Ill. (AP) – A courthouse where Abraham Lincoln handled dozens of cases is the site of an exhibit of memorabilia ranging from wooden figurines to a bobblehead doll of the nation’s 16th president.

The (Peoria) Journal Star reports that the items are included in an exhibit called “In Lincoln’s Image” at the Metamora Courthouse – the former county seat of Woodford County.

Local Woodford County collectors loaned their Lincoln trinkets for the show that runs until May. There are ordinary things like brass paperweights and more unusual things such as a miniature Mount Rushmore that doubles as a thermometer.

There are even salt and pepper shakers of Lincoln and Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee that – are magnetically attracted to – kiss.
