Museum to mark 50 years since Studebaker closing

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – The Studebaker National Museum will open a new exhibit to mark the 50th anniversary of the last Studebaker to roll off the assembly line in South Bend.

The South Bend Tribune reports the anniversary is Dec. 20 and the exhibit is called: “Studebaker: Preserving the Past, Pursuing the Future.” Admission to the museum will be free that day.

Former Studebaker Corp. employees who visit the museum that day will be invited to sit for 90-second video recordings of their Studebaker memories.

In addition, a former Studebaker assembly plant will be open for public tours for several hours that day. Members of the Studebaker Drivers Club also will be there and some classic Studebakers will be on display.
