PHILADELPHIA (AP) – The Philadelphia Museum of Art has acquired more than 200 new works from a wide array of periods and disciplines.

The museum said Friday that the items range in date from the 10th century to 2006 and have been acquired by purchase, gift, or pledged as donations by a handful of collectors and benefactors.

Among the new pieces are paintings by the French Impressionists Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, and Alfred Sisley, as well as a pastel by Mary Cassatt.

It’s also adding to its collection nearly 200 paintings, sculptures, and drawings from one of this country’s most significant private collections of work by self-taught artists.

Philadelphia-born abstract artist Ellsworth Kelly has given the museum one of his artworks in honor of the museum’s beloved late director, Anne d’Harnoncourt.
