Railway museum volunteer killed by train

NORTH FREEDOM, Wis. (AP) – A volunteer at a Wisconsin railroad museum has died after slipping under a moving train.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office says the 66-year-old woman was a volunteer employee at the Mid-Continent Railway Museum in North Freedom. Sheriff Chip Meister says in a news release that the preliminary investigation determined she was stepping off a train when she slipped under it as it began to move about 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was still being withheld Sunday pending notification of relatives.

The accident remains under investigation.

North Freedom is about 30 miles northwest of Madison.
