CLEVELAND (AP) – Plans have stalled for a Cleveland museum dedicated to the prolific design work of the late Viktor Schreckengost.
The museum was originally scheduled to open last spring. It has been put on hold while family members and supporters try to arrange a solid financial footing
Board president Edward “Ned” Hill tells The Plain Dealer newspaper the foundation has no cash now, but it plans to add more board members and start raising money.
Schreckengost died in 2008 at age 101. He incorporated fine design into mass-produced goods to make aesthetically pleasing, functional items available to all Americans.
The items he designed included trucks and bicycles, dinnerware, chairs, printing presses, fans, flashlights, stage sets and gas stations. He was the 2006 winner of the National Medal of Arts.
