NEW YORK – New York City is about to welcome a brand new, full-service auction house. La Belle Epoque Auction Gallery will open its doors in February 2022, offering a friendly new auction experience to art and antique lovers, dealers, collectors, first-time buyers and consignors.

Located in a two-level, 5,000-square-foot venue in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District/West Village, La Belle Epoque Auction Gallery promises a more personal approach to both buying and selling. A company-issued press release states: “Boutique New York auction houses that were thriving in the market through the 1980s and 1990s seemed to fall by the wayside due to skyrocketing Manhattan rental prices and other issues. While smaller, high-quality auction houses in New York City seem to have all but disappeared in recent years, La Belle Epoque Auction Gallery hopes to fill that void.”

Many in the art world already know the name La Belle Epoque as one of the New York area’s top destinations for vintage posters, with a specialty in authentic Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Mid-Century productions dating from the Belle Epoque era through modern times (1860s to the 1990s). La Belle Epoque Vintage Posters will remain a separate business. Longtime owners/partners Linda Tarasuk and Elie Saporta recently formed La Belle Epoque Auction Gallery as a natural extension of their long-established vintage poster business, which they opened in the mid-1980s.

Starting with its premiere auction, planned for February 5, 2022, La Belle Epoque Auction Gallery will provide a comfortable yet sophisticated neighborhood atmosphere where people can browse at the previews, socialize a bit with neighbors and take part in the excitement of live auctions, all while following Covid-19 safety protocols. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
