Minn. Archaeology Week kicks off with fair on Saturday
The week kicks off Saturday with the two-day Minnesota Archaeology Fair at Fort Snelling State Park. There will be poster and artifact displays, demonstrations of pottery making and canoe rides.
Other fairs, open houses and festivals will be held throughout the state during the week. Minnesotans can tour ancient rock carvings, view salvaged items from Lake Superior shipwrecks or visit a 19th century voyageur trading festival.
Minnesota Archaeology Week has been held every year since 1995. The Office of State Archaeologist is the main sponsor. The event runs from Sept. 14-22.
