Kensington Estate Auctions brimming with Moorcroft pottery Dec. 3

CLINTONDALE, N.Y. – Kensington Estate Auctions’ online sale Dec. 3 will offer an array of British and Dutch pottery; fine art from the 19th and 20th centuries; antiquarian books; sculptures; sterling silver; illustrations; theater, sports and political memorabilia; jewelry; rugs and stoneware. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

An exquisite collection of Moorcroft Macintyre (above), Florian Ware and Spanish Design art pottery is accompanied by Royal Copenhagen Flora Danica, Dutch pottery from Chris Lanooy and Theodoor Colenbrander, German Meissen Malabar musicians and a sculpture by Jais Nielsen.

The Rolex 18K Perpetual Day-Date watch (below), Tiffany picture frames, a Wallace & Son vanity set, a seven-branch menorah and a nine-branch oil lamp both by the Israeli artist Avishai and a Chinese silver export box by Luen Wo all come with impeccable provenance.

Art will be plentiful including works by Walt Kuhn, Gluck Sandor, Eugene Bubos, Harry Bennett, G. Mabie, Daniel Fowler, Johannes Martini, Umberto Brunellescha, Ernest Seton, Dorrit Dekk and Nancy Grossman.

Political and autographed items include signed Richard Strauss sheet music, The Woodstock Stories (1921) inscribed by William Benignus, an 1864 Lincoln-Johnson ferrotype campaign token and a World’s Columbian Exposition pass dated 1893.

Antiquarian collectors will marvel over the books of Thomas Bewick: Gleanings and Qudrupeds & British Birds. Vintage lithographed posters are highlighted by the four-sheet 1920s magician poster titled Carter the Great and works by Eugene Samuel Grasset, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Robert Indiana, Peter Max, Paul Rand and Tadanori Yokoo.

Travel posters will be accompanied by an advertisement for Bell Atlantic by Maurice Sendak and a signed Wild Things knapsack signed by Sendak.

A photograph of the 1996 World Series Champion New York Yankees signed by David Wells, Wade Boggs, Andy Pettitte, Paul O’Neill and others; a New York Knicks basketball signed by John Starks; and a collection of wrestling and boxing memorabilia from the 1920s-30s highlight the sports memorabilia.

Other photography includes an original photograph of Bruce Springsteen signed by photographer David Gahr, early 1960s photographs depicting life in Japan by Dr. William Sylvester Gamble and more than 1,300 original Third Reich German photographs.
