GLEN COVE, N.Y. – Roland Auctions NY will present its Spring Multiple Estates auction on Saturday, April 23, beginning at 10 am Eastern time. The sale showcases fine art, collectibles, furniture, antiques, silver, decorative arts and jewelry consigned from prominent East Coast estates and private collectors across the Northeast. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Lots of note include a group of Demetre Chiparus (Romanian, 1886-1947) bronze sculptures, among them Starfish, a circa-1925 patinated, gilt and cold painted bronze figure of a dancer on a marble base, estimated at $10,000-$15,000, and Vested Dancer, also dating to circa 1925 and produced in the same manner, estimated at $6,000-$8,000.

Contemporary and antique furniture pieces on offer include a pair of Maison Jansen faux tortoise and inlaid faux ivory inlay tables, stamped “Jansen” and in good condition. The pair is estimated at $2,000-$3,000.

In addition, a pair of French Art Deco boudoir chairs, with the back of each carved in the shape of a leaf, should turn bidders’ heads. The mahogany-stained frames curve around the backs to form one arm for each chair, and the front legs are carved in an acanthus leaf design. The chairs sport an estimate of $700-$1,000.

The art selection is led by a Victor Vasarely (French/Hungarian, 1906-1997) aluminum sculpture from 1970, titled KROA. It is an artist’s proof (A.P.) screen print in colors on anodized aluminum, and it comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Vasarely Center. It carries an estimate of $4,000-$6,000. Also of interest is a work after that of the famed street artist Banksy: Girl with a Heart Balloon. The mixed media piece is a spray-painted stenciled image of a little girl flying a heart-shaped red balloon, rendered on a metal stop sign shape. One side of the work has dents and damage. It is estimated at $1,500-$2,500.

Silver pieces in the April 23 auction include a 45-piece partial set of Tiffany & Co. sterling silver flatware, consisting of nine knives, nine dinner forks, seven salad forks, two dessert forks, nine teaspoons, and nine soup spoons that have a combined weight of 80.3 troy ounces. The set is estimated at $2,000-$2,500.
