Easy pick-up, payment and communication
Diligent buyers won't be disappointed. Preview in person or ask for more info if bidding online. They deal in B to C grade items typically, so don't expect museum quality pieces for this price range. This is a great auction house for resellers, good estimates and simple payment and pickup.

Inaccurate condition report
In March 2020 I requested a condition report for two marble columns from Crescent City Auction Gallery that I was considering purchasing. When I received the condition report the only mention of any damage was "There is a chip out of the top of rear of twisted column.” No additional photos were provided. I purchased the columns online to find out that in fact there is much more damage to both of the columns than the condition report mentioned or was visible in the photos on the site. There are10 good size chips, and a major structural crack in one of the columns. When I complained to Crescent City I was told that I had the online photo to refer to before purchasing (one photo of one side of the columns). I was offered the option of not taking possession of the columns, paying the full commission to Crescent City, and if they were able to auction the columns again for the same or higher price I would not be responsible for the rest of the cost. I have bought from many online auctioneers, and when requesting a condition report the auction houses have typically responded with thorough descriptions of the full extent of any visible damage, with detail photos showing the specific damage. That information is critical to an online buyer’s confidence in making a purchase. I hope Crescent City is much more thorough and accurate when providing information in condition reports for future buyers.

Buyer Beware.. Read their reviews before you bid.
I made the mistake of not reading their reviews before I bid. That was my fault. Dont make the same mistake I and a bunch of others made or you will most certainly end up with a surprise. Buyer beware.

If YOU Want To Be Cheated, Bid at This Auction House
I had the EXTREME misfortune of bidding and winning 2 paintings at this auction: one (falsely) described as a scroll and one oil appearing in perfect condition in the photo. Then the problems began. Despite many calls for over a week, they finally revealed that the "scroll" was not a scroll and actually mounted permanently to a huge piece of wood but unframed. It was too large to go by mail, UPS or Fedex and too brittle and fragile to remove. The recommended shipper would not pull it off the frame, as Crescent City told them to do. When the shipper went to look at this painting and pick up the other, Crescent City had 'lost' the second painting. When they returned another day, they were given an irreparable damaged piece, which was taken back to their office. Because I had gotten to know the shipper's staff struggling to deal with the fake scroll, they contacted me because the condition was so bad for the oil painting. Because the shipper and I caught them red handed, the auction house (which had ruined the piece after I bought it, but gave it to the shipper anyway. hoping the shipper would receive the blame), they were forced to refund my money for that. However, for the falsely described painting, they pretended that it was my fault and that I should have contacted them in advance. I had no idea they lied on their descriptions and had to do this. Even if I did, I would probably not received answers because they wouldn't give me one, AFTER I had bought it. With this auction house, you CANNOT TRUST their descriptions. You CANNOT TRUST they will not damage your lot after purchase. They avoid straight answers and are disreputable. Unless you live locally, can personally inspect every item you are bidding on, can pick it up and take it with you personally, NEVER do business with them. I received neither of my purchases, was cheated, while they will sell them to someone else, again falsely described. BUYER BEWARE. This auction should never be listed online anywhere.

I would not buy from this auction house again. Dishonest auction house
I have purchased items at 2 auctions from Crescent City Auction house, and both have been bad experiences. After the first time, I thought I would give them another chance, but clearly this is a habit with them. Reviews on yelp seem to say the same thing. The cabinet I bought from them was broken, lamps were broken (this is after I asked for a condition report and was told that these items were fine!). Very dishonest auction house. Unless you have to buy something specific from them that is very rare and unavailable elsewhere, stay away.

Bid With Confidence At Crescent City Auction Gallery
The oil painting I purchased just arrived and it is awesome, even more so than in the photo. My experience with Crescent City Auction Gallery was wonderful. I'm new to online auctions, and Crescent City Auction Gallery couldn't have been more responsive to my questions. Their suggestion of Pakmail for shipping and handling was a bonus, as not only were Pakmail's service fees reasonable, but they provided door to door package tracking. I would highly recommend Crescent City Auction Gallery to anybody wanting to bid online with confidence that the items are described as accurately as possible, and that Crescent City Auction Gallery will give you their full support to make sure you receive your purchase as quickly as possible.

Cheated and Unfair
I won # 0612 in the May 12, 2019 auction. I waited for my invoice to pay for my winnings and when I didn’t received I messaged Crescent City 3 times with NO reply. I called on the 6th day from the auction, to be told that they sold my winnings to someone on the floor. So even though I watched the online auction and saw I was the ONLY bidder and when my item was up for auction I receive notification that I WON. This auction company was clearly dishonest and cheated me. When I called the attitude of the person was unconcerned. I was told they would contact me which again they NEVER did. I had even requested weeks before the auction more pics and shipping information I really wanted this item. I was willing to fight a bidding war but there was no war I was the ONLY bidder to then be lied to. I seriously question LiveAuctioneers if you allow this type of unfair treatment. I’ve enjoyed these auction experiences until this horrible and disgusting situation.

Condition not great.
Granted, I know we did not request a condition report. However the condition of these pieces was truly lacking. Sling chair had a substantial rip and was riddled with rust that took a lot of time and effort for a specialist to remove and repair. The Butler's desk is completely off kilter, which is probably why it was given to our driver upside-down instead of right side up. Anyone could've seen that it has a substantial wobble. While our clients appreciate an antique/used condition, it doesn't mean a piece should be completely off balance or require shims permanently. This will be a substantial repair. Overall, the communication was great with these folks. But unfortunately due this pretty lacking condition we probably will not make future purchases.
