Great Selection of items
I like bidding for items at the Benefit shop because their items are out of the ordinary. The items remind me of items I grew up with, maybe not “important” but nostalgic.

Shipping
The shipping was considerably higher than the actual cost of the item won. I therefore had to just let keep the item and I was out the money for the won item. I realize shipping does cost today but it shouldn’t be more then the item won.

EZ transaction as always
One of the most honest houses with indicating in advance of defects with a lot. Never stingy with photos. And very helpful staff

The Benefit Shop does not offer in house shipping nor assistance, even for small items.
The Benefit Shop does not offer in house shipping for assistance, even for small items. So sad, and such a waste of time coordinating external shippers to even respond. Do not use them.

Awesome Auction
I follow this auction company and have won a few times, and each time, the item is what was shown, and getting it to me has been easy. Bought a delicate plate and it was VERY well packaged! Highly recommend!

Always great finds
Never disappointed in the items I fnd here, always unique. The UPS stores in their area who handle much of their 3rd party shipping, however, are always exorbitantly priced and unfortunately one of the few alternatives to use with this auction house. Cost $230 to ship this small mirror. I took the unopened box to my post office pretending to ship it back to them and the quote was $84. You do the math. The auction house, however, is always a satisfactory experience.

Difficult to Deal With
They claim to issue invoices but fail to do so. Then the file a complaint. Shipping items from The Benefit Foundation is much more costly than it should be. I advise due care in dealing with this organization

Great Deals for Good Causes
The Benefit Shop always represents its merchandise accurately with excellent photos and descriptions. Payment is very easy as is arranging shipping with the recommended UPS carriers. How wonderful that people can clean out their homes, the public can find treasures and charitable organizations receive funding. A truly winning proposition.

Details of item condition, not complete
Item purchased was not complete on their web site, it’s a shortcoming for anyone who wants to purchase sight unseen. The pick up process was unfortunately a challenge. Other retailers I have dealt with in the area were much easier to deal with for the pick up process.

They do not ship!
The Benefit Shop is a supposed charity, but they don't mention what they do or support. Donations must have a picture and description to be accepted or denied, so they do turn down donations. Since they do not ship, I had to contact local businesses for quotes. A 2 # box would have cost less than $15 by USPS, but my quotes were $78-243 including a pick up fee. Not worth the shipping, so paid for item and donated item back to them. Luckily, they accepted it.

Great Auction House
The Benefit Shop was amazing handling the whole process from winning the item to receiving it. Excellent communication. They don't offer in house shipping so I went with one of their recommended companies and it was a breeze. Highly recommended.

As with most things in life …
… sometimes it’s great and sometimes it’s not. It’s important to know that longer your item remains at Shop, more likely that it may get damaged so get there quickly to pick it up. Some of people who work there are lovely, as are some of finds … reverse can also be true. Grin and bear it knowing that you probably got a great deal and proceeds go to charity (although, which ones, is hard to know). If you are local, it is worth it to try to view pieces in person because sometimes pictures and descriptions are spot on but sometimes not. I only do in-person pick-up to avoid shipping costs. process is easy-make an appt and show up within that window.

Easy and Pleasant
It is so easy to buy from The Benefit Shop Foundation and so nice to know that items are "recycled" and funds go towards good causes

Shipping
I think it should be more prominently displayed that shipping is not included in their services. Having said that, I spent $10 on an item and spent $30 to ship it. I would never buy from them again.

Rude Employees
Typical rude New Yorkers. Beware they do not ship and will give you a list to have your item picked up postage and the cost of transportation to the mailing location is costly. Best to buy on eBay and avoid this place customer service is lacking no compassion at all just rude and crass I guess Pam thinks this is a good way to run a business. David
