Antique Arena is a reputable online auction house, and you can bid on their items with total confidence!!

Very professional

First item was not as described. Purse had a lot of pen and makeup stains inside. Those photo's were not shown and not in item description. Antique Arena recommended a professional shipping house, Shipping Tec who claim "ShippingTec is a professional shipping company specialising in working with Art Galleries and Auction Houses in Tri-State area. We know how to handle art and antique objects." Unfortunately this was not the case. The purse was a 14 x 19 purse and its stuffed into a 8x8 box. The purse is now wrinkled and misshapen. Why pay for premium shipping services and specifically specify the size only to have it shoved in a box half the size of the item. Waste of my time and money.

This is a Masterpiece of a sculpture by Giacomo Manzu, which I named "MOTHERHOOD". Very happy to own it. ShippingTec did a secure packing, and the sculpture arrived safe and sound.

These guys are great to deal with! I regularly get items from them and arrange for my pickup from their site. They are always helpful. Also, because I pay them directly, I do not have to pay 3rd party online service fees. And... did I mention that they have some of the most interesting items around!!

The painting I received bore only a passing resemblance to the painting I received. Not only was the canvass crumpled in real life the colors were faded and the gold leave (it was a Russian icon) had not glitter. Auction House's explanation was that they had an excellent photographic studio which had the ability to improve on reality. That's not what they actually said but it's the gist of it. I now have a much bigger restoration project on my hands than I had anticipated.

Easy transaction, but be prepared for extraordinarily expensive shipping costs. The item, however, was packed very well and shipped quickly; though fitting into a USPS small flat-rate box, the quote was near ten times the normal USPS rate and non-negotiable. I was unable to get in contact with other shippers for alternative quotes. In short, try to get quotes before bidding if possible so you are not blindsided by unexpectedly high costs.

Con game sadly. Bought three items, one with greatest value, bought cheaply, they “lost.” Furthermore, they give out all your info to many “shippers” without permission, and those people all send improper insanely overpriced invoices. Off the rails bad, steer clear.

Be careful! This place sells a lot of fakes. Their photos are great but their descriptions can be inaccurate or misleading. I won a "lithograph" that turned out to be a photograph of a lithograph with a fake signature. I would never have know this if had not gone in person to pick up the item. They are nice, helpful people and immediately refunded my purchase price with no questions or problems, so I applaud them for that. They don't have much of a showroom-you can make an appointment to view a small number of specific items-but it is dangerous to rely only on their excellent photos and not examine the real thing.
