We have been purchasing from JMW Auctions for almost as many years as we have been living in Kingston NY (since 1986) and have always been very pleased with the quality of their merchandise and fresh pickings, from autographs of Abraham Lincoln to fairy paintings by Brian Froud. Jay Werbalowsky and his staff try very hard to help both bidders and consignors. My only regret is we do a lot of traveling so I am not always around when he has sales, but they are always worth checking out and more often than not they could easily have happy surprises.

Long story short: don't bother with JMW; they take no responsibility, ownership, nor do they respect "expertise" they claim to have in auctioning. I bid and won a lot described as (copy/paste): "APPEAR TO BE IN VERY NICE CONDITION", "FROM SINGLE OWNER CAMERA AND ACCESSORIES COLLECTION". This, combined with their own description .. auction expert for over 25 years. This is our only business, and one we take very seriously" sounds like a safe bet for placing a bid on something of interest, right? No, wrong! Received items were like removed from a flooded, musty, forgotten basement: ALL 16 lenses from lot had fungal growth on them, half were OBVIOUSLY covered in a slime-like substance, all of them strongly reek of mold. I threw away several items before sealing box and placing it in garage, all within 10 minutes from opening it. I contacted JMW by e-mail and phone. They did not reply to any of my attempts until LiveAuctioneers became involved. They replied shortly after. Their message (Joyce was my constant contact & exercise in futility), in short, was: "we took pictures of items, you won 16 camera lenses for 100 -why are you not happy, it was a great deal". They refused to acknowledge/agree with my complaints despite providing pictures clearly showing mess they sold as "great condition". I was eventually offered a 60 $refund (my total cost was 210 , S & H and fees included) and all items have been tossed at bottom of by garbage bin right after. My worst online auctions experience ever and by far; nothing else compares to these scammers. For your own good (and health!), avoid them. Cherry on cake: I got to also talk with Jim (3rd sentence into phone call he identified himself as "my name is Jim, I own this company"). Apparently he is owner of JMW and after my 3 minutes phonecall it became clear to me where all that bad starts from: Jim, aggressive, short tempered, loud and egocentrically short sighted owner. Never again.

A plus service, stand up guy! I expect to do more business with JMW in the the future. Have nothing but positive things to say!

a. No communication at all. I asked for the shipping, they never answered back. b. Shipping was expensive. c. Just able to send invoice, never communicate when they shipped the item. very poor auctioneer.

The item was represented to be an "early zinc" fountain. In fact, upon receipt, I determined that it was an aluminum reproduction being sold on the internet. The auctioneer charged me $250 for delivery, and although he took back the fountain and refunded the purchase price, he refused to refund the delivery charge.

They were very helpful when I had an issue with the extended time needed so that I could arrange shipping. Most auction houses are not very understanding of the time it takes to arrange a shipper for larger pieces of furniture and also the wait involved for the shipper to actually arrive at the auction to pick the item up. JMW had no issues with this at all.
