Cabinet des curiosités- Day 2

As the name suggests, the "cabinet des curiosités" offers a potpourri of objects from very different collecting fields. The focus of the Art and Antiques section is on religious art in the Middle Ages. Nonetheless, most of these curiosities have a military connection. Apart from European weapons and pieces of armour from the 16th and 17th century, a group of Indo-Persian weapons and armour components are to come under the hammer, together with ethnographic arms from Africa and Oceania. By the same token, a small, yet fine collection of French 19th century military objects also stands out with rarities like a helmet, sabre and sword of the Mousquetaires noirs de la Maison du Roi, circa 1814/15 (lot 3173), or a remarkable sabre for the grenadiers à cheval de la Garde Imperiale (lot 3194).
