African & Oceanic Art and Antiquities

Highlights from our September auction include: a Roman Lead Ingot discovered in the 18th century alongside a similar piece which now resides in the British Museum; a fine Pilos Helmet from the collection of Axel Guttmann; and a rare over life-size bust of the Emperor Vitellius. The African & Oceanic Art section features a finely carved Yombe maternity figure, an early Guyanan macana club in exceptional condition and a Punu mask of beautifully soft quality. Notable examples of Natural History include an impressive Psittacosaurus skeleton and a detailed fossil dragonfly alongside fine mineral specimens.
