Natural History

This auction is highlighted by a superb selection of amber fossils, 11 of which were deaccessioned from the Myanmar Amber Museum, a private museum located in Yangon, Myanmar, and brought to the United States by the museum's curator, Roger Long. Among the lots comprising Long's collection of fossilized creatures is a well-preserved Lizard in Amber (estimate: $3,000 – 4,000), featuring a clear view of the lizard's feet. The sale will also present buyers with the opportunity to acquire a Rare Double Butterfly in Amber from Mexico. This spectacular specimen, entombed in an extraordinary piece of Oligocene amber, is the only known example of two butterflies in amber. It is estimated to fetch between $25,000 – 30,000.
