Fifteenth-century Lao Buddha in a delightful Lanna(Northern Thailand)/Laos folk style. Loss of original base and finial, plus one ear mostly replaced. Larger than his 15-inch height (17 inches on custom base ) He has a very unique mouth-I've seen this before on some other folk-style pieces. It is consistent with him being an authentic period piece. Much of the patina is exquisite- Thai Buddha collectors call this special type of patina found in some quality Northern Thai pieces "jade green" patina. It comes from the specific metal alloy used to make the Buddha To the green slowly comes out of the metal over time and is impossible to fake. A personal favorite.
