Description
A Norwegian saluting cannon, mid-19th centuryIron barrel in 40 mm calibre with a slight cannon muzzle, banded central section with narrow trunnions. A cipher crown/"C4" on the rear section, the visor ring also sectioned by bands with a vent hole, the breech base with a swamped, circular cascabel. Length of barrel 65 cm. Sturdy wooden gun carriage with iron wheels. Total length 70 cm.The cipher "C4" possibly stands for Carl IX of Denmark (1826 - 1872), who was also Carl IV, King of Norway.Condition: II -
