American folk art carved and painted figural wooden whirligig in the form of an early soldier holding a sword in each hand. On a rectangular painted wood base. Red, white and blue painted features. Figure is pegged to base. Late 19th or early 20th century.

Condition
No losses or cracks to the wood. Surfaces with wear and painted surfaces with some losses as shown. Four drilled holes to base where it was affixed to a post. Old screw in the soldiers right hand (see photos). Arms spin nicely. Paint appears to be original.
